I like big trucks and I cannot lie… uhhhh sorry. Anyway, somebody needs this big bastard! It’s a real deal Tatra T815 6×6 and it’s a roller. You can get it with your choice of engine and trans combos, but we wouldn’t if it were us. We’d get creative with something cool to drive it, although I’m not sure what at this point. The seller has almost $30k in it as it sits, and is going to take a bath on it because he’s decided not to go through with his project. If it were ours it would become a really cool expedition rig of some kind. We’re poor, so we’d probably buy some kind of box to use as the starting point, or maybe even an RV Trailer that we’d just bolt onto the back with some reinforcements to make it live.
We could see this sucker being an awesome adventure rig and know that it would get a lot of attention everywhere it went. And speaking of everywhere, that’s exactly where you could go in this thing. Tatra’s are known for having some insane suspension and drivetrain components that make them not only insanely capable of going anywhere they want, but doing so without breaking. Want to drive all the way through South America? Knock yourself out. Want to drive through Canada, Alaska, and up towards the North Pole? Santa will be waiting with hot cocoa, and Rudolf will leave the light on for you.
Would you rather ship it to Africa and do some of the Paris Dakar routes? Float to Europe and work your way to the Middle East? Go for it. This truck can do it as long as you have the money for fuel.
These trucks are huge, the cabin in them will hold 6 no problem, and 8 or more if comfort is not king, and the rear seat area turns into a “bed” if you will. It really could be a cool project and a fun rig to travel in when done. Oh and the GVWR on this thing might as well be eleventy million. You can’t find a way to haul more than it is capable of.

Purchased in the Czech Republic and imported into the USA 2014, without OE V12 twin turbo air-cooled engine to satisfy EPA import regulations. plan was to build an Expedition type camper re-power with DD 8V92ta with Allison HT740 4 speed with custom driveshaft to Tatra transfer case box.
Plans have change and no longer have the time or space to finish. I purchased the truck in CZ for $13,500 & cost a further $14,500 for transport – shipping – import customs – US transport……… MY LOSS, YOUR GAIN…..
Tatra drivelines are enormous dwarf all other trucks so hence immensely strong, No.1 preferred trucks for Siberia as used by GAZPROM etc
TP24 is an adaption of an 8×8 without the last drive axle, being permanent AWD 6×6 one advantage twin steer has over conversional 6×6 layout is the improved steering offroad particularly when the diffs are locked, this removal of last axle reduced curb weight, increased GVW and maneuverability over a 8×8 design.
The TP24 are one of the most competitive 6×6 trucks in Euro & Czech TruckTrials just search youtube
3 options :- rolling chassis Tatra truck as is without power train, you re-power your choice
Tatra truck with Detroit 8V92 – Allison HT740D
Tatra truck with used OE Tatra V12 twin turbo air-cooled engine & Tatra 10 speed manual trans,
The cabins of Tatra are the weakest points I have yet to see any used trucks without any rust in them, this 1 for its age was 1 of the better units, has relatively easy patch repair lower rocker panels & lower rear corners, all flat sections, rest of cabin is great condition just oxidized faded paint. will need door & window weather strips available from US suppliers as its a universal type.

Common sense, please read listing before bidding, NO ENGINE unless you purchase my Powerpack separately as noted & pictured in the listing
This is incomplete truck i.e as listed, would be almost complete with my mentioned Powerpack however it will need reblumbing, fuel tank, all new (6) rubber bellows for swing joints $240.00, exhaust, servicing repairing systems such as elec air fuel oil hoses + rust repair, its pretty straightforward however everything is heavy
all suspension joint steering box drag-links brake drums brake linings, slack adjusters are in good condition.
This was a used running driving truck in the CZ. It came from Chudim Municipality County type Highway Dept spent its life towing & hauling, speedo shows 125,000 kms ( 77,000 miles ) believe accurate as the speedo worked when i tested the truck.
Here are some examples of what this thing can do and could be.
Parts are available on “RockAutoski”.
I’ll have to adjust my pants after reading this!
I’m a long-term fan of all things Tatra. It’s that screw you attitude to automotive conventions Air cooled rear mounted V8s, aerodynamic bodies and independent suspension long before the Porsche 911. Their cars were around until the 1990s and had DOHC electronically injected versions of that sweet V8.1930s Tatras can fetch over £100,000. But this is the first Tatra truck I’ve seen for sale and would make the ultimate go-anywhere motorhome, but you know what I’d do? I’d sell on everything but that lovely motor and either scratch build a rod to put it in or find a late model car to swap it into – now that’s what I call a real alternative to an LS!!
