I love COE trucks. So much so that James Crosby and I actually made a special stop to check one out that we saw from the freeway last week. What’s cool about COEs is that they had such cool character. The lines were exaggerated or distorted from the regular cab trucks of the day, and it made them look tough and cool. Most of the time in the hot rod world we see them swapped over onto some late model dually chassis and a bunch of fabrication work is done to make all the stuff fit together. This guy did that, but with a special late model dually chassis that makes a lot more sense. This 1956 Ford COE is sitting on an E350 diesel chassis. The E means van for all you folks out there who don’t know. And that means that it has the doghouse in the middle of the floor already, the engine is where it needs to be to fit under a COE, etc, etc. The builder of this one actually used the floor from the E350 and set the COE Ford cab down over it and welded it in. We love it.
With a built 7.3, trans, and cool bed, this could be one bitchin hot rod hauler ramp truck for the right person.
