I have an addiction. I can’t stop looking at C10 pickup trucks online, even though I don’t have any money to spend on one. I want a shop truck, work truck, parts getter truck, whatever you want to call it. And because I live in the land of plenty of old cars, aka California, I have a ton of choices at all price points. For today’s Shop Truck Shootout I have chosen three trucks in the $4500 -$5000 range. They are all C10 or C20 Chevy Trucks and all very different.
Which one would you choose?
1970 C10 – The old school look on Cragars just speaks to us.

1973 Square Body C20 – Big Block, Right Looks, Right Stance. This looks like a hot rodders work truck.
Something else has caught my eye. I’m willing to take a loss to get it. Hit me up with your offers.

Definitely the green 70′ on Cragers, though I’ve always preferred Keystone Klassics. I wish you could ship some of that rust free sheet metal here to Hawaii!
I cant choose between the 70 on Cragars or the 73 C20 big block. The upside to the 73 is trailering ability. But that 70 looks so good dropped on those Cragars.
I have very fond memories of my very trusty long gone ’77 Silverado so I have to choose the ’73.
As much as I enjoy the earlier body style, for a real work truck, gotta go 3/4 ton. Bigger brakes, stiffer suspension, BB, and those swell “Camper Special” badges. What can I say, halfers have always just seemed so, disposable…
Work Truck. Basic no frills truck.
The one with 3 pedals
First: stop acting like a Hipster and calling all chevy Trucks a ‘C10’. That can get you beaten like a thief around Real GM people.
2nd for Hauling & towing a 1/2 ton SBC can NOT compete with a 3/4 Ton BBC. So Ill go 3/4 ton 454. It will haul more, Tow more. It will not ass wag with a trailer as easy as a 1/2 ton will.
The ’73. Big block and disk brakes.
