This 1978 GMC G-30 Shorty Van Is A Pathfinder Modified 4×4 Beast We Would LOVE To Drive!

4×4 vans are cool, I don’t care who you are. But they aren’t very common in comparison to your average white plumbers 2-wheel drive van seen all across the country. But even when the factory didn’t offer a 4×4 option, companies like Pathfinder were there to make sure you had all the off-road capabilities of a new truck but with a van body. Pathfinder was located in Southern California and used all factory heavy duty components to take your average Chevrolet or GMC van and make it 4-wheel drive. Of course they specialized in making them extra cool with all the expected van bells and whistles inside, and more room for activities with raised roofs and sun roofs. We approve. The expedition crowd has been in love with these things for years and you can find some cool builds online where guys are taking an old one like this and outfitting it for long trips off-road. Again, we approve.

But this one isn’t that. It’s cooler than that in many ways, mostly because of the huge attitude it has been given thanks to the 8-inch suspension lift and 37 inch Goodyears on bitchin 8-lug Slot Mags. I’m in love.

Seller’s description

1978 GMC G30 Pathfinder 4×4 shorty van. This is a 3/4 ton short wheel base van that was converted by Pathfinder Equipment. It is equipped with a 400sbc, np205 transfer case, gm 10.5 rear end, and a Dana 44 up front. The van has a 8inch suspension lift and is sporting 37 inch Goodyear wranglers on vintage 16.5 slot mags. Interior has autometer gauges, art carr buckets on original swivels. We stripped out the old interior so we could have a blank slate for next owner ( the rust free interior floor has been rhino lined). Exterior has very little rust which is shown in the pictures. The original paint does buff out and does have custom pin stripping. The van will do 70mph down the highway. Van has new fuel lines, fuel tank, and new brake lines. Included are spare panels, interior pieces, a/c components, and several other small items. This is good running driving project. If you heard of pathfinder then you know these are sought after and rare. $10,000

  1. A BOAT, A MINK STOLE, JEWELRY

Anyone who scoffs at 4×4 vans, especially from the 1970s, should actually spend some time in one and then say they still don’t like them.
