This 1985 Chevrolet Eagle Bobtail Tractor Has 4-Wheel Steering And Is Crazy Big!

This 1985 Chevrolet Eagle Bobtail Tractor Has 4-Wheel Steering And Is Crazy Big!

It’s 4-wheel drive, has almost no miles on it, and looks like some kind of military tug or something. We’re not sure what it lived its life doing, but we certainly want to know the story. It’s real money, but man is is cool as hell. The axles are insane, it has air ride, the 6.2 is probably ready for it’s first oil change, but hasn’t had enough miles to care what has been done to it. Sure it probably has idled for the equivalent of years, but hey it’s cool as hell.

I’m not sure what the axles are, but they are giant and seem to feature bold on axle tubes. With pintle hooks on both ends and lots of d-rings they certainly expected heavy duty things to be going on with this one. It may have been a lot rig for just moving big equipment around on trailers, I’m not sure. It doesn’t seem to have a 5-wheel plate on it so I assume it didn’t haul that type of trailer much, but it could have been dragging who knows what else around.

If you have a clue as to what these are/were used for then let us know because this thing is just fun to look at.

Here is what the seller has to say about it.

The photos do not show all of the rear. It looks like it might have had a lifting boom. No photos of the data plates. I would say it was ordered by an up-fitter from GM. Then after conversion sold to the DOD. CUCV’s aka D-10 (blazer) or D-30 (1 ton regular cab pick up) have red interior panels & seats. That truck is 80’s GM Tan (beige), that was up-fitter painted DOD Green.
