The CJ8 Scrambler is a pretty impressive Jeep, and one that for many is THE iconic Jeep they want to build. They are nowhere near as common as the other models, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find them. The CJ8 was a longer wheelbase Jeep, that is configured like a pickup, and many off-roaders swear that the extra wheelbase makes all the difference in the world on lots of trails. Of course this is an opinion that can be argued until the cows come home but regardless these machines are cool. In addition to the longer wheelbase, they also have a pretty big rear overhang. This is the bad part. In stock form they are fine, but the overhang means that contact is a lot more likely on the trail.
To fix that lots of guys bob the back and move it in tight so there isn’t the giant overhang. This is what David Freiburger had done when he had his Scrambler built years and years ago. And it is ultra bad ass I might add.

My Brother bought this Scrambler 1983, we are the 3nd owner. This CJ8 has never left the state of California (NO Rust) with very little off road use other then trail riding. Hate to let it go (time to make room for grand kids)… We have always kept the CJ stock without sweeping modifications (exception of 4″ lift) appreciating the originality of the CJ8. Park in any lot and people will to stop by just to talk about the Scrambler. Re-Manufacture Stock Jasper 258 Motor (to make as closely to new as possible). Pictures were taken before I added the rear fender flares. The Scrambler is now ready for a new owner to bring her back to a full life.
