When I found this killer 1977 GMC square body short bed on Rockwells, I sent the link to Brian and he about died. This may be the coolest square body 4×4 we’ve ever seen! Owned since 1977 by the current owner, and with only 33,000 miles on the clock, it’s a perfect restoration but with a twist. That twist comes in the form of Rockwell axles front and rear on custom leaf spring packs that get this sucker up for a perfect fit with 43.5 inch tall Firestones thanks to a slight revision to all the wheel openings. We dont’ know that we’ve ever seen one quite like it, and can’t imagine that EVERYONE doesn’t love this thing when it drives down the street or pulls into a car show.
At first we were disappointed that it’s small-block powered, but then we got to thinking about it and figured that normally someone would ruin this sucker by putting a blown big-block in it. It’s the fact that, other than the lift and axles, it’s really stock looking that has us all hot and bothered. I have a feeling there are a bunch of you out there that, like us, drew some version of this truck a million times on scratch paper while laying on the living room floor at the age of 7. That’s what makes this so cool to us. Check it out.

a show truck, what good is it? what does it do better now then what it did before? bias-ply 44s on narrow wheels does not make for a better wheeler…
