Crushing A $40,000 1kg Gold Bar In The Hydraulic Press: Most Expensive Crush Ever

Crushing A $40,000 1kg Gold Bar In The Hydraulic Press: Most Expensive Crush Ever

We’ve seen a lot of stuff being smashed by hydraulic presses lately, but this is most certainly the most expensive thing ever crushed by one on YouTube. This is a real 1000g or 1kg aka 2.2lb Gold Bar in the hydraulic press, worth approximately $40,000! It’s crazy to see just how crushable the gold is, and how much it deforms without tearing. It is very pliable, even without heat being added. Watching this amazingly beautiful gold bar get smashed into something that isn’t nearly as pretty is kinda crazy, but that’s why we figured we would share it with you.

What do you think? Cool or not cool? And what other stuff do you think would be cool to smash in a giant hydraulic press?

The bar is probably still worth $40,000 now, so this may not have been the most expensive amount lost in one of these videos. 😀

I was hoping to see if they’d try squishing it paper-thin, but still, that was really weird – the gold brick seemed to be completely unable to tear or crack; it just stretched like metallic Play-Dough.

It was mentioned that this was a 4 nines purity, He said it was the purest Gold you can get, but I used to use 5 nines in electronics mfg, on a daily basis, No big deal I would take it as a gift anyway.

LOL the gold has NOT lost any value just because it’s in a different shape. The only loss would be the labor involved to remelt it and pour it into the same old mold that was used to shape it in the first place.
