(By Tom Lohnes) – It is needless to say that the new-for-2021 Ford Bronco is a massive success. Such a success that Ford can’t quite make them as fast as they can sell them. Sure, part of that can be blamed on the chip shortage, but still, the Bronco is a hit. Recently, Ford unveiled the Bronco Raptor, an extremely impressive SUV capable of doing highway speeds across a desert. Although pretty cool, the starting price of $69,995 is definitely not for everyone. Well, they have a solution for that up in Dearborn, and it’s called Everglades.
With the Sasquatch package as standard, a 10,000 pound Warn winch, and a pretty awesome looking snorkel, the Bronco Everglades is no Raptor, but it can definitely hold its own when it comes to the rough stuff. Sitting at the top of the trim ladder, the Everglades is only available in 4-door configuration, and can be had with either a 2.3-liter boosted inline-4 or a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6. And for the quintessential enthusiast, yes, a manual transmission is offered with the base engine. All Sasquatch Broncos get Ford’s advanced on-the-fly 4WD system, and the Everglades gains some cool styling touches like fender graphics, new wheels designed to keep mud out of them, and a heavy-duty modular front bumper to hold the aforementioned winch. Pretty cool.
Inside, the Everglades sees barely any change from the standard SUV. There is both Vinyl and cloth seating offered, and the Everglades gets a special plaque telling you that you got a cool Bronco. There is no configurator out yet, so we will have to see what interior packages are offered.
Of course, this Bronco is still expensive. It is definitely cheaper than the Raptor, but $54,495 to start with is still a lot for a vehicle this barbarian. But, if you are in the market for a factory mudding vehicle, the Bronco Everglades goes on sale this Summer. That is, assuming they can actually produce them.
What a deal. Just kidding.
60 grand for a midsize suv is insanity. They’re gonna charge whatever people are willing to pay. If everyone stopped buying this overpriced garbage and let them rot on the lot maybe the automakers would change their tune.
