The 2023 Ford Everest Is A Really Neat SUV…That Is Not Sold In America – Styling, Power, Capability, Why?!

(By Tom Lohnes) – In America, the Ford Bronco is a massive success. The Ranger-based SUV that is available in all flavors from extremely mild to extremely wild has a massive amount of orders, and a cult-like following that is honestly impressive for a vehicle that debuted in 2020. Although this brute is awesome here, it doesn’t make a lot of sense overseas. That’s where the 2023 Ford Everest comes in.

First off, the Everest is not a new model by any means. Debuting in 2003, this other Ranger-based SUV is the Broncos weird step-sibling. Riding on the same platform as the all-new ranger and the aforementioned Bronco, the Everest is motivated by the same 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder as both other models. Although it is available with a variety of engines including that 2.3, one sticks out. Using the 3.0-liter Powerstroke diesel V6 straight out of the F-150, the top-spec Everest will supposedly have upwards of 400 lb-ft of torque, and will be quite fast. Depending on the engine, you either get a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic. 4WD is standard.

Speaking of 4WD, the Everest is shockingly capable for a vehicle that looks so suburban. With wading capabilities up to 2.6 feet deep, a roof capable of a 772-lb static load, and a standard dual-mode, rear-based 4WD system, the Everest can eat up trails with no problem. Supposedly, a Raptor version may be coming soon as well.

On the Outside, the Everest does exactly what you think it would do. It takes a Ranger, puts a bed cap on it, and blends things together. It will initially be available in three trims: Sport, Titanium, and Platinum, but more are expected to come as time goes on. The Inside is essentially the same as the Ranger too, just quieter and more spacious. Surprisingly for a vehicle this size, no third row is available.

As of right now, the Everest is forbidden fruit to us spoiled Americans, who have a total of three midsize Ford crossovers and SUVs. But, a lot of people here love body-on-frame SUVs, and the bronco in 4-door films is too big to be practical in some situations, so what’s 4? I believe this would be a huge seller over here with a few needed tweaks such as a third row.

Pricing for the new Everest hasn’t been announced yet, and expect UK sales to begin in early 2023.

The previous generation Everest was a 3 row SUV, indications are the upcoming model will also be offered as a 7 seat version.
