The fact that King of the Hammers is actually happening right now in Southern California is amazing, and a testament to the hard work and planning done by the entire organization, as well as the cooperation of state and local officials in California. This is one of the most epic events of the off-road racing season and I am truly bummed to be missing it this year. This is an even that is like none other and is a riot to be a part of at every level. Hammertown, the crazy huge world that pops up out of the desert sand in just a week, is the fastest growing town in the world during King of the Hammers week each year. To accommodate the tens of thousands of people that show up, requires huge organization and facilities management and this year made that an even bigger challenge because of the global pandemic. We were told that in order to come to King of the Hammers 2021, every person had to be rapid Covid tested on site as they came through the gates in order to do everything possible to keep people safe. Of course social distancing, masks, etc are all part of the drill as well, but because this place is setup in the middle of the desert, being smart and spreading out is totally doable. Lets hope everyone is following the rules and making this one a great experience and proof of what can be done even in COVID times.
But enough of that, lets look at some off-road racing action! Here is King of the Hammers Qualifying, and the Everyman Challenge will also be competing today. Saturday’s King of the Hammers main event will be live all day as well, so stay tuned for that link as well. Until then, enjoy some qualifying!
