How many times have you jumped into a repair on your car or truck with virtually no clue on how to actually do it? I mean before YouTube you would have to just muddle through it using crappy photos in a Chilton’s manual or something. Sometimes they were clear as could be in their instructions and sometimes they were really giving nothing more than vague suggestions. Now you can look up a million videos showing how to do just about anything in the world, but you still have to pull off the work. In this video here, Scott is working on his OBS Chevy pickup and trying to replace the cv joints in the front of this 300,000 mile winter beater. How tough will it be? Watch and learn.
Video Description:
Replacing CV axles, or front axles, on an OBS era GM truck. 1988-1998. Chevrolet or GMC. I have never changed the CV axles on any truck before. But, it desperately needed to be done. So, I did what I normally do, I asked some questions to people who are smarter than me, bought a couple tools, I needed, then I dove right in. These OBS era GM trucks are still quite popular and this repair is just part of owning one. My 1990 K1500 Chevy with over 300,000 miles and one appeared to never have been replaced. I put off changing them for over 2 years, but knew I was risking much more damage if I didn’t, and one failed. It turns out this job isn’t that hard at all. And, I bought two new sockets to get the job done.
