One of the reasons I love tractors so much is because of the deep connection they have in the fabric of America. Tractors help grow the food to feed us, they help do all kinds of hard jobs from road building to massive construction, and during the bad times of war, they are right there at the front working along side the boots on the ground that fight it out.
This video was made by International Harvester and it talks about the company’s work during WWII in the war effort. Tractor companies manufacturers a multitude of different things from the stuff you would expect like tracked vehicles to stuff you wouldn’t like munitions. In fact, their expertise led them to develop stuff like mine laying equipment. What better company to figure out how to work the Earth than one that makes implements, right?
I realize that these old videos are not everyone’s cup of tea, but they sure are mine. There’s an overt patriotism here. This is not about bragging in my opinion. These films were made out of sheer pride in the fact that organizations like IH “helped” this country win the most important fight of its life.
You don’t have to be a tractor fan to love this. Nope, you can be someone who likes history, someone who is a gearhead, or someone who is just interested in how everyone pulled together for a common cause and got the job done.
Check this out! You’ll dig it.
