Watch These Guys Fix A Broken Axle Housing On A Dump Truck With A Stick Welder And A Lathe

You know we are fans of the Pakistani Truck channel on YouTube and there are a bunch more just like it. These channels often show workers in far-off places who are using what we might consider rudimentary tools to make some pretty serious repairs. We’re talking everything from welding crankshafts back together to welding completely new ends onto giant axle housings, and everything in between. What’s cool about these videos though is that these are the same practices that were used here in the States just a few decades ago. Think about it, there weren’t always CNC machines and robotic welders, and parts are not always available to make all thinks new. So it is videos like this that I find interesting because of the historic significance that these repairs hold.

The truth is, there are a lot of “welders” and “machinists” that couldn’t do this kind of work today. They simply don’t know how to work without the latest tools. OG dudes would, but some of the newer crop certainly couldn’t without digital controls.

So watch, tell us what you think, and appreciate the work that is going on here. Hell, even the installation of the housing is impressive as the truck is still on the ground and there are no power tools being used. I bet these guys sleep like a champ each night after a work day like this.
