The debate between off-roaders about different setups has been going on forever. The debates on manual vs automatic transmissions, big power vs small, axle gears vs transfer case, leafs vs links, and of course wide vs narrow tires. All these, and more, have been points of contention forever. Some of the arguments involve actual science, some pseudo science, and some just opinion that is presented as science. The truth is that different rigs and different setups and different drivers like different things, so you are never going to convince everyone to do just one thing. And thank God for that!
