Blog War: This 1974 Dodge Power Wagon Custom 300 Dually Is The Knock Out Blow (Again)

Blog War: This 1974 Dodge Power Wagon Custom 300 Dually Is The Knock Out Blow (Again)

Fridays are pretty fun around here. It is the end of the work week and it is also the day that I once again puncture Bryan McTaggart’s blog war balloon with a sweet find that makes his look like a sad joke. I’m not sure what happened to the guy today. Up until this point we were jabbing back and forth with some awesome stuff. Toys, wreckers, you name it. Today the guy posts a late model Ram with a flatbed on it. Ever seen a boxer who is past his prime and continues to fight to get paid even though he is basically a human punching bag? I’m kind of feeling like McTaggart’s trainer should have thrown the tower in for him today out of mercy. Why? His late model luxo truck has nothing on the green machine below which will cause pure awesome to drip from your computer screen.

While the color doesn’t really spin my crank all that hard, everything else about this truck does. I love the way a single cab dually looks. I love the way a four wheel drive dually looks, combining both of those in this truck means that you are looking at the Dodge my dreams are made of. The engine is a 360 and it is hooked to a four speed stick. The truck looks totally original and the ad states that the guy who previously owned it had been restoring the rig as time and money allowed. A warmed up 440 would need to find its way into the engine bay of this truck shortly after I took ownership. The narrow tires look old school so they would stay and the manual trans would stay but I’d probably consider slamming an NV4500 under there in place of the short geared four speed. Losing the mile-long shifter would be a some sort of a travesty though. Decisions, decisions.

This is as old school and straight ahead a truck as you will ever see and that is what I love about it. The interior “styling” is the greatest because there’s just a couple gauges and a bunch of black plastic. The truck is even radio delete, meaning that it likely lived a pretty pampered life in a municipal fleet of some kind. Bryan’s truck has some modern features but this big lug has soul!

BMT…L O S E R ! Old Power Wagon vs. new RAM, not even close. The pastel green…:( …. it was probably Deep Sherwood. Lohnes wins this one.

As a 1974 Dodge D100 owner, I like this truck, the only things that I would change are reupholster the seat in black, and get some chrome on the grill and bumpers, as well as add a 440.

This truck sucks. Awful color, standard cab and a gutless turd of a 360 for power and the red vinyl seat…I’ve not seen anything so MEH inducing from you in some time…this ones crap Bruab…….I got to give this one to McTaggart
