Cool Video: Watch Big MAN Truck Engines Get Assembled From The Block On Up – Inliners AND V8s!

While the German MAN brand of trucks may not be familiar to Americans, they are huge over in Europe. The company started making locomotives in the 1830s and has been an industrial giant ever since. They make everything from lighter duty trucks all the way up to massive coaches and tractors that are capable of pulling the fabled “road trains” seen in countries around the world.

In this video we go to the engine plant and with the natural sounds of the plant, see engines assembled from the block right on up. The first one we follow through is a big inlier. You realized how beefy this stuff is when you see the monster wrist pins slid into the pistons and then those assemblies stuck into the block. Make no mistake about it, these are hand built engines. You will see technicians performing the duties from dropping the crank in to screwing down the valve cover, installing the turbos. We believe that this factory is in Germany.

The vide also shows another assembly line with large V style engines are being built. There seems to be come different processes on that line with techs following the engine from start to finish as it rides on a  robotic cart through the process. Finally we get to see the engines dyno tested and then loaded onto another truck to be brought to the truck/bus assembly plant where they will (in theory) go and rack up a million miles or more in their lives.

This is a cool video because you really do get the factory experience with no music, sound effect, etc. You hear what the workers hear. This is what an engine factory actually sounds like.
