Sometimes making a mistake when trying to correct a mistake is actually worse than the original mistake. If that fails to register with you, watch this video. You are going to see a crew working in an unidentified country trying to essentially un-eff the massive nightmare known as a train derailment. As we have showed you in the past, locomotives have incredible pulling power so naturally the crew decided to use a couple of engines to drag some rail cars closer to the tracks so they could likely be raised by a crane and put back on its wheels. They are hooked on one that is laying on its side and at first things seem to be going well.
The puller train does not seem to care that it is dragging an obscenely heavy object on its side through the dirt and then something bad happens. You’ll see the thing backing around a gentle curve and it makes an odd jerky move. That jerky move is followed by the pulling engine toppling off the tracks and onto its side about 150ft away from the already crashed train that is strewn all about. Can you imagine what the call was like to the railroad boss when this happened?!
We’re guessing that this crew was quickly replaced or perhaps even left for dead in whatever jungle they are working in as yet another train and equipment was brought in to now un-eff TWO derailed locomotive disasters off of the same track.
If you are having a less than stellar day today, just watch this video and know that no matter what you did, you ultimately were not responsible for crashing a train that was there helping a crashed train. Sometimes it is the little things, right?
