Calling the boat in this video a “tug boat” may be generous but I’m not really up on theĀ maritime terminology these days so forgive me. Either way it is a working boat of some sort hooked to a big rig wrecker and engaged in a pull off. That in and of itself is entertaining. Chevron Delo heavy duty oil was the sponsor behind this test of strength and they’re pitching their diesel engine oil that they say protects engines under severe conditions. It sure seems like the diesels in the boat and the big diesel in the truck are working pretty hard against each other here. At one point the massive wrecker gets the front end up and there’s some footage of it spinning the tires and being pulled backward.
Obviously a big ocean-going tugboat would drag this rig away like it were a Hot Wheels car but the point was to have an even match up and provide some entertainment value. Outside of the screamy host, we thought this was a cool video and while I’m sure that the final result was kind of hyped up I watched until the end to see how it turned out. The whole package is only like two minutes long and if you are into big, powerful stuff this is a fun watch.
The real battle we want to see is two big rig wreckers hooked together against each other and two of those massive ocean tugs digging against each other as well! That would be like mechanical blood sport competition to the max!
Odd…the wrecker left little or no tire marks on the dock?
I’m surprised they didn’t air down the truck’s tires in order to maximize grip.
Too bad they didn’t try it against an ag tractor – looks like the wrecker only got to 15,000 lb of pull. New ag tractors can pull down 60,000 + lb
horseshit
Fake just like Darrel
That tug should of pulled that rig right into the drink. Pretty cool though!
Don’t believe for a minute the truck winning as tug was pulling it with all wheels locked. Also, shame about the cheesy infomercial type video. “Don’t try this at home”? Darn, was just going to get my Big Rig and Tug Boat out too!
Sorry but I call total BS on this video. The boat as a small utility boat. I drive Tug Boat for a living and our wench engine is 1200HP. Our dual 20 cylinder EMD’s with turbos would pull that dock out from under that truck. Hell we normally pull deep water drilling rigs that are 325’long x 350’wide and 130′ draft. Look it up: Noble Jim Thompson. Total BS!
Scotty Trosclair, those EMD’s are badass, aren’t they? š I used to run coal trains that had 4 of those on the point. Nothing quite like hearing those big 2-cycle V-20s going to work!
