Fun Footage: Watch This Vintage Caterpillar Crush An Old Car and Nearly Throw The Operator In This 1936 Movie Clip

We love old videos and when we stumbled upon this gem from the 1936 movie Earthworm Tractors we couldn’t help but to share it with you. In the clip we see a vintage Caterpillar tractor “crush” a car. It drives right up and over this sucker with no problem. No problem to the tractor, that is. The operator on the other hand has a different experience.

As the tractor comes down off of the car, it seem obvious to anyone with an education beyond the third grade that this landing is not going to be soft. It isn’t. The Caterpillar lands so hard that the operator is nearly thrown completely out of it! Seriously, this guy is basically stopped by the engine cowl from being thrown right out of the beast and likely run over by it. Old equipment was incredibly dangerous for many reasons but the operator being completely unsecured was likely chief among them. It didn’t take much to get chucked out of the big, wide, seat that they worked from.

In this case, after the car is crushed the tractor seems like it is heading to climb a dangerously steep embankment and then some 1930s movie magic intervenes. Funny stuff all around and we’re pretty impressed with how the car held up with the tractor fully on top of it. Think they had it filled with stuff? Modern cars fold up like fresh bread in these situation.
