Gravelrama 2015 Coverage: Flat Dirt Drags Images from the Pits And Action On The Track

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – We’d never been to the flat drag portion of Gravelrama and we were really looking forward to it.  100 yards to the finish.  Its odd watching a drag race without burnouts, but the rooster tails shooting up off the scoopers makes up for it.  The track gets dragged after a couple handfuls of runs to keep the surface from getting too irregular.  We shot pictures and video all day long and finally decided to call it quits after dark because we needed to get home and back up here in the morning for the Big Eliminator hill.

This gallery is made up mostly of rides in staging and the pits.  Its no surprise that the small-block Chevy powers the majority, but there are plenty of others out there including some surprising stuff.  The little red Sonoma is powered by a boosted Ecotec.  The Six-Pak Jeep is all AMC and 6-cylinder-powered taking down V-8s.  As our regular favorite – Indian Uprising is powered by a blown, alcohol-injected Pontiac Trophy Four.  All coolness.
