With all the bru-ha-ha that’s been kicked up by the dirty, cheating, environment hating, mean, ugly, bad smelling, spiteful, sneaky, shifty eyed, shady, engineers at VW who cheated environmental testing of their diesel cars you may be wondering who in their right mind would want a diesel powered VW these days.
Truth be told, no one wants one of the new ones but how about a cool old one that has been swapped with a hot rodded diesel and is exempt from all the malfeasance caused by the German pocket protector sect. That’s right, this is a 1968 VW Baja Bug that has been repowered with a VW 1.6L diesel four banger which has been braced up with the addition of a Subaru turbocharger. Yes, that means it is probably making about 90hp but that power is coming through a VW bus transaxle and it will all be put to use trying to turn the big rear meats designed to help this thing float over the sand dunes and whatever else you run into cruising through the desert.
The wide body kit on the thing looks awesome, the nerf bar in the front is perfect, the interior is mint, and thing even ships with a set of studded tires to go along with the all terrains that are on the thing now. The seller is asking nearly $15,000 and we don’t think you could build this thing for that much so if you were hankering for a hot rodded Baja Bug before today, your prayers have been answered.
We don’t know what it should cost but we do know that we want it!

The only drawback is that this beauty will never even venture near the sand pit in the local playground let alone the arid wastes of the car crusher that is known as Baja!
Fautless engineering and attention to detail though but hey – its still a VW diesel and I’d expect at least a 30% discount…..
