The JCB Fastrac Snow Plow Is A High Speed Snow Dominating Monster

The JCB Fastrac Snow Plow Is A High Speed Snow Dominating Monster

When I lay my grotesquely large head down on my pillow each night I try to think of something nice before drifting off into slumber. Maybe it is a happy memory from the day, maybe it is the thought of an upcoming race, and maybe it is a massive high speed tractor with a plow on the front and a snow blower on the back moving powder at like 40mph. As you’d expect, it is mostly the third thing that I think about at this time of the year and after watching the video below you will join me. The good thing is that this is not some fantasy world we are dreaming off because the high speed plowing beast exists and it is called the JCB Fastrac. They will go 40mph or 50mph depending on how you spec it out from the factory. So cool.

JCB has been making the Fastrac since 1991 and it has been popular among European farmers who often have to drive some distance to get to the fields that they are working with their machines. What makes these things very unique among tractors (and you will see this illustrated in the video below) is the suspension. The front suspension is a four link setup with a panhard rod and a anti-roll bar while out back a triangulated for link with an anti-roll bar is used. This is one of the major reasons it can run the speeds that it does without killing the operator and everyone around it. With disc brakes and an air suspended seat, this thing is set up for driver comfort and performance (for a tractor). It also looks boss with a plow on it!

I bet they could really use something like this in Massachusetts right now. That is if they have anywhere else that they are able to put the snow. With more snow on the way I have been told there is no room left. We are supposed to get 1-2 inches here overnight and it will all but shut this town down.

In 2006 at Bonneville speedweek, JCB used a similar unit as a push vehicle for their record setting diesel streamliner(0ver 300 mph) I noticed that the very large tractor tires had HIGH SPEED in raised letters on the sidewall. They were reportedly told by SCTA not to find how fast it would go, but it obviously was able to push the streamliner to 60+ mph. Impressive.
