Jumping A SEMA Show Truck? Not A Great Idea

Jumping A SEMA Show Truck? Not A Great Idea

This video is an oldie but it still cracks us up. If the title is to be believed, you are about to see a group of guys take what is purported to be a SEMA show truck and run it over a big dirt berm at a decent rate of speed. The intention was for the truck to leap off the ground when it crested the berm but it does not really go the way anyone there thought it would.

One of the terms you hear a lot from builders and fabricators about the cars and trucks you see on the floor of the SEMA show is that they are “sema ready”. In effect that means the vehicle you are looking at appears ready to rock and roll, kick ass, and then take names. In reality it means what you are looking at has gotten close to completion but is basically capable of idling into the show and out of the show but not being run as hard as it looks may indicate they are capable of.

This makes the vehicles that ARE totally done and capable of being thrashed that much more impressive. The men and women competing at OUSCI this weekend are a testament to that. The cars and trucks may not be totally dialed in but they are out there getting hammered on and that rules.

Now, back to our behemoth here in the video. It looks pretty tough and it likely got lots of eyeballs planted onto it when coming in and out of the show. That’s the good news. The bad news? You’ll see it below.

I wonder how many of these SEMA show vehicles are strictly show and no go, this truck showed it should have stayed on the trailer.
