Bryan Lively is the editor of Pro Pulling Magazine (ProPulling.com) and he’s a BangShifter as well. Bryan sent us a video link to some footage taken recently at a pull up in Canada. Things were going swimmingly for Patrice Beaudry and his “Crazy Canuck” tractor…until he hit the gas. As you will see below and as the description from the super knowledgeable Lively spells out, things went horribly wrong for the experienced Canadian puller on this hook. You will see the explosion from both far away and at ground level. In both cases it is as violent as you’d expect. Additionally, the announcer’s plea for people not to touch the PISTONS lying on the course is a good indication of how violent this explosion was. Read the highlighted words below from Bryan Lively that gives the tech regarding the engine.
Patrice Beaudry and family campaign a CaseIH-bodied puller named the “Crazy Canuck” and in recent years the tractor had been fitted with a 903cid Cummins decubed to 650cid to run Unlimited Super Stock, which run in the neighborhood of 4500-5000hp. In this new incarnation the Canuck is fitted with a 400 series International Harvester block to run as a Light Super Stock, with a 505ci limit and over 4000hp. Needless to say a massive explosion wiped the engine out here, parts spraying on the track. The run was at the 25th Annual Centerville Power Pull in Centerville, New Brunswick.
