New Parts: Hedman Debuts MID-LENGTH HEADERS FOR C10 & C20 PICKUPS

Chevrolet trucks from the late 1960s through the late 1980s are one of the great shared platforms in hot rodding. These trucks were built by the millions and car still be had for cheap. They are perfect project fodder and we’ve seen them being built more and more in the contemporary pro touring and lowered “frame layin'” style recently. The good thing about this is that the trucks look awesome with that vibe. The tough part is that anything that hangs down below the frame rails gets squashed flat when the bags are dumped or when a truck with a low profile is heading over speed bumps or other obstacles. This is especially true for headers which are typically some of the lowest pieces below any car or truck.

Enter Hedman! They recently pulled the cover off of a mid-length header line for 1967-1987 C10 and C20 trucks with small blocks, big blocks, and LS swapped engines. The big block headers can be had with up to 2″ primaries where other applications can be had in 1-5/8 and 1-3/4 diameters. These are of course built with nice thick flanges, high quality and robust tubing, and like all Hedmans, they’ll fit like a glove!

Whittier, Calif. (November, 2013) – Chevrolet C10 and C20 pickup trucks have become one of the most popular classic trucks amongst enthusiasts thanks to their plentiful numbers, an abundance of available parts and, in the case of the C10, a stock car-style truck-arm suspension that perfectly complements a lowered stance.  Adding to the popularity of these trucks is their ability to accept just about any Chevy V8 whether it be a classic small block, monster big block, or modern LS engine.  However if your truck is lowered, traditional long tube headers can have major ground clearance issues leading to scraped and dented primary tubes.  Now, with the release of Hedman’s new series of mid-length headers, C10/20 owners can get the most horsepower possible from their C10’s engine, without having to worry about costly header or exhaust system damage caused by diminished ground clearance.

Hedman’s mid-length headers are engineered to deliver maximum exhaust flow while maintaining a lower profile than traditional long tubes.  These headers are designed to fit 1967-1987 Chevrolet and GMC 2WD 1/2-ton and 3/4-ton trucks equipped with the factory small block or big block engines as well as transplanted LS engines and aftermarket crate engines that utilize factory-style heads.  With 1 ¾-inch mandrel bent primaries and 3-inch collectors, these headers have the capacity to easily complement heavy breathing naturally aspirated or supercharged engines.  For those with stock or more mildly modified small blocks, the C10 SBC headers are also available with 1 5/8-inch primaries, while the C10 big block headers are also available with optional 2-inch primaries for ultra-high horsepower applications.  Hedman’s C10/20 headers also feature an integrated ball-and-socket style flange collector to provide a durable, gasket-free seal.

Built in the U.S.A., Hedman’s C10 and C20 headers for traditional small blocks, big blocks, and LS engines are constructed with beefy, 5/16-inch or 3/8-inch flanges that keep the thick, 16-gauge mandrel-bent primary tubes firmly attached to the engine, even under harsh driving conditions. These headers are available in your choice of either an uncoated finish (Part# 69010, 69020, 69170, 69190, and 45660) or a silver HTC high-temp ceramic-metallic coating (Part# 69016, 69026, 69176, 69196, and 45666).  LS-swap headers are compatible with T-56, 4L60E, 4L65E, and 4L80E transmissions and are also available in Hedman Husler’s new Black Maxx Ceramic Coating (Part# 45663).

Mounting hardware, gaskets and installation instructions are also included with the headers.  Hedman’s LS-swap headers also feature built in 02 sensor bungs for a pain-free installation.  These headers are built so well that Hedman guarantees them for life and the HTC-coating for five years.  For more information, call (562) 921-0404, email [email protected], or visit http://www.C10Headers.com.
