(Photos by Charles Wickam) – Charles Wickam was our man on the scene last weekend at the Texas Truck and Tractor Pulling Association event. We showed you some of his images yesterday and we’re carrying on with more today. From soot spewing diesels to wheels up blown alky burning trucks this was a huge and very diverse field. The long wheelbase creations are some of our favorites around here because with the front wheels up you can immediately tell how close to being “right” the weight and setup are.
I was just at a truck pull (literally) yesterday and thoroughly loved it. In my case it was all diesel equipment tugging on the sled but the theory was all the same. Judge the track, pick a line, figure out a lunch strategy and then follow it. The skill level at the event I attended was widely spread so the newbies got literally taken to school by the experienced pullers. There is way more to this stuff than just knowing how to hold the right pedal down!
