Craftsmanship is something we really admire here at BangShift and it takes on many forms. There are guys who can machine stuff from hunks of metal so beautiful that it nearly brings us to tears and there are other guys who can envision something they want to create from scratch and by the time they are done, that idea which was living in their head is roaring down the road and turning heard wherever it goes. Such is the case with this drop dead gorgeous laid out dually truck hot rod from a hot rod shop known as Cutworm Specialties in North Carolina. The levels of coolness on both the shop and the truck are many. For starters, the shop is located in an old general store that the owner’s grandfather used to operate. Then there’s the fact that the guys (all two of them) work at night because that’s when they feel the most creative and efficient. Judging by the work that has come out of their place, we agree that they are on the right program.
The video below talks a lot about what went into making this truck and why it was built this way and we’ll let that video do most of the talking. The things we that make us smile and sweat when we look at the truck are the big 460 that’s running through open headers up front, the absolutely sweetness of the metal work (remember, the entire cab, bed, etc is scratch built), the fact that every panel on the truck has a myriad of custom touches and they aren’t over the top, and of course the stance.
Of all the potholes and buckets that the boys at Cutworm could have stepped into when building this truck, they touched none of them. Sure, it is not everyone’s style and sure it isn’t a car you’d want to cruise across country, but it is a hot rod and makes no apologies for it. Young guys doing work like this keeps our hopes for the future alive. These fellows will be turning out amazing work for decades to come.
We’ll be dreaming about this one tonight!
good to see youngsters with skills and a vision of what they want
Now that …. is one bat s*** crazy insane and creative hot rod in the very best meaning of the phrase …
It’s cool as shit. but I don’t like it….
I agree. The work is outstanding! They are truly great craftsmen. Just not my cup of tea.
NO just NO.
Yes! Yes! and yes again!
This is almost beyond description – there are so many good things about it. I love the quilting effect and the fact that it has no Chevy smell about it. Born to be different or what? I’d love to see a matching motorcycle with an aluminium frame and steel wheels powered by a modern four cylinder engine.
Please let us see more gems from Cutworm as they are truly gifted.
