It is always cool when professionals from disparate styles of racing get together and have fun with each other’s rides. In this case it is former NHRA funny car champion Cruz Pedregon and off road racing phenom Bruce Menzies. The two guys meet up at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Bryce to take on some drag racing and Cruz to hop into the seat of the Pro 4 truck that Menzies races with. We have seen both of these guys race in person. Cruz for obvious reasons and Bryce we have seen competing at the Red Bull Frozen Rush event in the wilds of Maine each of the last few winters.
It was pretty fun seeing Cruz in the off road racing truck and attacking a course he never knew existed until about an hour before the video was made. The payoff comes at the end when the truck and the Snap-On funny car square off in a match race. The truck apparently ran 10.50 in a test run that is quickly mentioned and so it is given a six and a half second head start on the funny car. Yes, this is nuts.
Remember, it was Cruz’s brother Tony who was in a stock Camry earlier this year with Del Worsham in the other lane to show the accelerative power of a funny car. This time the truck is WAY out on Cruz before he leaves, oh and there’s a passenger in that sucker! Cruz would have chopped the throttle if there were issues but thankfully he did not have any. He powered by and scared the daylights out of Menzies.
Watch this, it rules!
Damn , really impressive . That puts some perspective …and the brute power of nitro funny car .
