Slow Motion Calamity: Backing This Pipe Lugging Big Rig Onto An Unsecured Barge Was A Bad idea

Slow Motion Calamity: Backing This Pipe Lugging Big Rig Onto An Unsecured Barge Was A Bad idea

(Words by Greg Rourke) – Imagine the shenanigans those darn Russians got into before cameras were pointed everywhere and at everything. I’m sure we missed some good stuff.

Here we have a load of pipe on a semi trailer being backed onto a barge. SPOILER ALERT: I should say “attempted” to be backed onto a barge. But then you knew something good was going to happen, otherwise we wouldn’t be sharing this with you. Back to the story.

A load of pipe, and what appears to be a military style semi tractor. Big single tires, all wheel drive, a big sturdy capable machine. The load shows us that apparently Harbor Freight has opened a store in Siberia, and these guys purchased their cargo securement from them. A couple of nylon straps loosely thrown over the load. But that’s another story. The driver is backing down a muddy hill, and makes a second attempt at lining up with the barge. The trailer gets on the deck, and we see the trailer wheels are stopped, but the tractor appears to be rolling. The driver can’t stop this calamity and bails out.  What gives? Did they forget to drop anchor on the tug? Did they fail to purchase some bungee cords at Harbor Freight to secure the barge to terra firma? or did they just want the rest of the day off? We may never know.

Press play to see this slow motion nightmare and make sure you stay until the end!

” Quick comrade, we blame this on the Americans…the Chetchians…Israeli….save the Vodka…it’s floating away!”

Nope, don’t anchor the barge in place or have the tug pushing it into the shoreline. Just let it float away…dumbasses…

The tug boat line is clearly under tension pulling away from shore. What we have here is a failure to communicate.
