The Coolest Jeep Currently For Sale On The Internet Is This 1946 CJ2A – Even The Ad Itself Rules!

The Coolest Jeep Currently For Sale On The Internet Is This 1946 CJ2A – Even The Ad Itself Rules!

Like people it seems that some individual vehicles are destined for greatness. Take the story of this 1946 CJ2A Jeep for example. It was literally going to be scrapped until someone saved it and over time as built one nasty, mongrel, tough as nails off-roader out of it using a conglomeration of old and, umm, less old parts. Between the Buick V6 under the hood to the fact that the machine is actually a 1946/47 body mounted to a 1966 CJ5 frame, it is just an awesome example of keeping something alive and then using it for the purpose it was originally intended. Also, the ad itself is fantastic and you’ll be beaming with pride and admiration for the mongrel truck as soon as you read it!

While we know that looks matter little when it comes to off-road prowess, this is one of the meanest and coolest beater Jeeps we have ever seen. The narrow and tall swampers look fantastic, the orange wheels, and the grubby body go together perfectly and the true icing on the cake is the multi-colored top that the Jeep is wearing in some of the photos with the 100% vertical windshield. Just look at the photo immediately below this text. Which Jeep would you want to be driving? One of the modern pieces in the background or the one crawling rocks and looking like it was part of the Normandy invasion? We know the answer!

We love the way that the ad it written. It gives all the necessary details and information but does so while delivering lines like this:

1946/47 flatfender pieces expertly grafted with dryer sheet metal, computer cases and diamond plate to once again resemble a Jeep CJ2A all of this was mounted on a 1966CJ5 frame using bolts and hockey pucks.

The frame had a 225 oddfire V6 an engine that sounds like two different things depending on perspective. It can sound like the most cracked out farm tractor you have ever come across, or a pack of shitty backfiring Harley’s.

This may be the ultimate “use it and abuse it” Jeep that is currently for sale on the internet. We’re in love and we’re guessing that you are going to want some of this action as well. What a rig!

Man, I couldn’t get rid of a Jeep that nice. It would be like giving away of my favorite dogs.

      Definitely.
I’ll bet the owner has a stable of nice Jeeps and needed to make room. That’s the only reason I could think of.

I saw this pop up on my feed and about choked. That is my Willys.

The CL post was honestly a joke to see how long my buddy that helped me build it would take to find it.

I did it while bored sitting in a hotel room for work one night thinking about what I could sell to make some more money as I have another little one on the way. That is the reason for the retarded high asking price – I hoped no one would bite. But for 8k I would have probably sold it and instantly regretted it.

I do have a small fleet of jeeps here in various shape, however none of them are as well sorted out as this one. My YJ has FAR more money into it and I still am hesitant with that one on the trails. This one is insanely reliable, and it shouldn’t be. It is the worst condition vehicle I own (in appearance). If someone asked me to go beat the snot out of it today I would have no hesitation, outside of the rear springs being bent – but I have wheeled it that way for over 2 years. If it had a front locker it would be nearly unstoppable.

I have shown up to trail rides with it and heard people that love it, and I have heard far more comment that I would be the POS holding them up all day. That has NEVER happened. I had one trail ride where the old electric fan failed and did start overheating. We piled snow on the intake and strapped the hood to the roof. I made it home under my own power. It has a mechanical fan now again. It truly does have a local fan base.

Thanks for the props in the article, when I saw it in my feed I could not believe it.

My fave flatly. Well, first thing; I need to get credit (and better life insurance) for the snow pic as it was taken while I was running for my life to dive behind a group of trees (because in the snow that 2a handles like a scalded dog.)
Second; Electric fan story- true. I remember that trail ride and at first just figured he put the hood up there to keep the snow from coming in through the holes. The ‘tree / top’ incident was also on a snow run, but that story’d be longer than the CL ad 😉
