They guys from Howe and Howe Technologies up in Maine have outdone themselves again. The company is in the business if building specialty vehicles for use in all different arenas. They have built stuff for the military, they have built machines for the police to help with the bomb squad, they build what can only be described as the most incredible all-terrain wheelchair ever devised, and they are constantly trying to come up with more capable and effective stuff. Their signature vehicle is the Ripsaw, a high speed, high performance, highly capable tracked vehicle. They have had a couple of iterations but this latest one, dubbed the Ripsaw EV-2 is the meanest yet and this video of it in action is some truly radical stuff.
With a top speed of 60mph or more, this this is like the Bugatti Veyron of tracked vehicles. We’re reasonably sure that this one (like the Ripsaw EV-1) has a hot rodded Duramax diesel V8 for power. There is some music in this video and there are a couple of times where you can hear the engine roaring and it sure has that Duramax note to it. The best parts of the whole video are the scenes where the Ripsaw is drifting (under control) across the frozen lake at what seems like full throttle. The control the driver has is pretty amazing and we have no idea how many takes it was to “get” the shot but there doesn’t look to be many scuff marks on the ice so most of this stuff may have been grabbed on the first attempt!
The Howe and Howe dudes are not too far up the road from BangShift eastern world HQ. We’re going to reach out to them to see if we could swing by their skunkworks in Waterboro, Maine. Think that would make for an interesting story?
Do it!!!
I’d love to see that too!
Enter this mother in rock racing!
I’ve been following the development of the Ripsaw for some time now and I’d love to see it adopted by the US and other forces – watch IS run for the hills when faced with a fleet of these with all guns firing!
But all that would be eclipsed when it took the rocky road!
Can we get Freiburger and Finnigan in one of these?
