That thing will be sitting wherever I am sitting on Christmas morning because if not, I’ll send a strongly worded letter to his supervisor. I’ll use words like darn and heck and it’ll really throw the whole North Pole situation into turmoil. But let’s just err on the side of goodness and expect that the car will find me on Christmas morning. If that does happen, I’ll probably suffer a heart attack induced by joy and then die of a stroke after the heart attack when I see the car for the second time. Look at this magnificent bastard. The car was professionally built, by who and when the seller does not tell us but wow. It uses a Vista style roof with the glass panels so the people in the back seat could gaze up at the sky, get car sick, and then christen the interior apparently. I don’t know but I love it. The fins which still manage to look perfect even though they kind of look like ears sprouting off the side of the wagon body. This Cadillac does not have a tailgate but the rear window does drop completely into a fixed rear panel so there is still access to the storage area in the “way back”.
The engine is a 390ci Cadillac V8, the transmission is the expected automatic and from the photos that show both the top and botttom of the car there doesn’t seem to be a spec of rust on it. There does seem to be some fluid bleeding from either the transmission or the back of the engine but honestly that’s just rust prevention. It isn’t like yanking the engine out of this thing or dropping the trans out would be a week long job. I have no idea how many of these were made, for who, or if there was just a rich guy who demanded a wagon and sent it off to a coach builder to get the thing made. That’s the story I’d like to envision. Big rich guy just rolls up to Superior or someone like that throws a kid the keys and tells the guy to call when it is done. That seems pretty 1963 to me, anyway.
Just saying hardtop wagon 1963 Cadillac aloud makes me well up. It is a thing of massive beauty. Everything about this other than the fact I cannot spend the needed $30,000 to buy it is perfect. You need to check this one out both in the photos below and then at the eBay ad where there are a ton more photos and information from the seller. SO. FLIPPING. AWESOME.
This is dying to have a dragster on a small open trailer behind it!

goddamn that is soooo sweet! love it!
Does the big boned chick come with it? I need someone to … clean and cook. 🙂
And a hardtop wagon no less, I wonder how, and if, the back opens.
It says that the rear tailgate doesn’t open, but the glass does slide down
I think there are a few shots of this car in my Cars Of Summer gallery.
Google: 1963 Cadillac Station Wagon. First listing. Scroll down to 1963. I believe it’s the same car but it has had a paint job since photographed in 1989/1990
Brian, better yet, have a car flat towed behind the wagon, especially a Willys gasser!
Looks good , but to bad the rear gate doesn’t work?
