There are few motorsports in the world that have the level of sheer violence that rock bouncing has. Between the crazy chassis, the big horsepower engines, and the drivers who literally line ’em up and stand on the gas, it is a never ending chain of hard driving fun. We’re not saying that there’s lack of skill, that there’s nothing but just brutal force involved but we are saying that you can look at trophy trucks, hill and hole competitions, rock crawling, and whatever else you want to inspect it doesn’t measure up to what these guys do.
The good news is that this video is an “and they walked away” type of deal and even better than that, these rigs are largely designed to have this happen, fire up, and drive off. They have axles in them that simply do not break, their engines are largely protected under that chromemoly cocoon like the diver and sometimes passenger are. The scramble is never to drag the driver out, it is always to flip the thing back on its wheels so the guy can either drive back or make another run at the hill, cliff, whatever.
We need to get to one of these events in 2019. We’re missing out.
