We have mega-trucks, rock bouncers, monster trucks, and who knows what else roaming around the deserts and mud pits of this country today so why not a mega-buggy? NHRA’s Alan Reinhart tipped us off to this machine and it seriously has us pondering whether or not it has single-handedly invented a new category of four by four vehicle. It is like a sand car but extrapolated and expanded in every direction. It is like a mega truck with the big axles and all but it isn’t wearing the traditional tractor tires and stuff. We do know that you cannot really tell how massive it is until you see the photos below where it dwarfs the dually pulling it. This thing should be in the Top Truck Challenge like NOW.
Powered by a Duramax diesel V8 you have great torque and efficiency, underpinned by massive Rockwell axles you have strength, and equipped (literally) with a ladder on the driver’s side you have ease of ingress and egress. The four wheel steering is really sweet as well. Now, the buggy IS registered and street legal in Arizona. We’re not sure how that would apply to your state but this thing must turn a lot of heads when it rolls down the street with like a Prius stuck under it.
Not really knowing the dynamics of what makes a sand buggy good or bad, we have no idea who this would fare out there but boy we’d sure like to give driving it a shot. Jumping it may be rough because it is so much weight bearing down but if it could do it, we bet it would ride unbelievably on the huge remote reservoir shocks and coils.
