So Greg Rourke and I have been locked in a simmering war of homemade tractor/farm equipment recently and I have decided to escalate the conflict with this video which is not one, not two, but many interesting homebuilt tractors and vehicles which seem to have been created in Russia or at least in eastern Europe. We’re guessing blindly there by the the looks of the local terrain and buildings. Oh, the endlessly gray sky along with the tall snowbanks snowbanks were also a clue.
While homebuilt cars have historically been weird looking, awkward affairs that you’d probably never actually want to get into, homebuilt tractors are weird looking awkward affairs that are completely awesome. Because these are tractors and working vehicles there’s no real expectation of what they are supposed to look like and unlike automobiles, the more odd they look, the better.
The very first one you see ambling down the road in this video may be our favorite. We cannot identify anything that it was made from other than the four huge tractor tires that sit on the corners. The five wheeled motorcycle looking creation that seems to have huge inner tubes for tires looks like a laugh riot to use in the winter and we bet it floats as well. Greg can test that theory out.
