Think Travis Pastrana Is A Bad Ass? This Video Featuring 1920s Daredevils Will Show You What Insanity Looks Like

There has been a lot of talk about daredevils and stunts over the last few days because of the awesome Travis Pastrana Las Vegas extravaganza that millions of Americans watched on Sunday. We’re going to fund the clock back to the 1920s to show you what the true definition of stunt making insanity looks like and if this does not make your eyes bug out, your opinion is wrong. Dangling under an airplane with a straight jacket on is among the feats of awesome performed here. How about hanging onto the landing gear of a plane as it slowly lowers you and drags you along the ground with absolutely ZERO margin for error?

There are ridiculous airplane stunts a plenty here and it makes sense. Aviation as the world knew it was 20 years old or less as this film was made. The world was still fascinated by heavier than air flight and when people figured out that they could make a buck doing seemingly impossible things in the air they did them with aplomb. One of the zaniest moments in this video is “guy on the super tall spindly pole”. We have no idea what this stunt is even called but it is bone chilling to watch the dude do it!

We’re not taking anything away from Pastrana. We loved it like everyone else. All that we’re saying is that the people in this film are literally doing it by touch, feel, and prayer. That’s the most disconcerting part. Every stunt here was performed under the auspices of “I think this will work.” Wild, right?
