Truckin’ History: Historic Engines, Cool Trucks, And Old School Components At Mack Truck

Truckin’ History: Historic Engines, Cool Trucks, And Old School Components At Mack Truck

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – We have showed you all kinds of cool stuff from Joe Grippo’s trip to the Mack Visitor’s center in Allentown, Pennsylvania and we’re capping it off with one last group of neat photos today. Rather than world famous trucks or highly polished rigs we’re going to show you old engines, cool old parts, and a few cool trucks being brought back to life in what looks to be a factory restoration center.

We were really digging all of the engines. From the old Thermodyne engines that the company became famous for to the E-series engines that carried it forward. There’s even a legendary E-9 shown. This massive 998ci V8 did not have the greatest reputation for reliability but boy did it make massive amounts of power! Mack is now a part of Volvo trucks so they are not developing their own engines and transmissions as they did for the majority of their history but Mack trucks are still sought after and carry a great reputation with them both in the USA and in places like Australia where the brand continues to be very strong.

It has been fun checking out the Mack Visitor’s center through Joe’s photos we hope you have enjoyed the trip as well!
