Wagler Competition has long been a strong name in the diesel performance world. The company has been a leader in Duramax performance for years and they offer lots of hard parts for guys looking to really make some steam with the venerable GM V8 diesel offering. So, what do companies like Wagler Competition do to challenge themselves? They push the boundaries of design, engineering, and strength. They build engines with screw blowers AND turbos, they make billet art, and they are not afraid to shoot it full of nitrous, alcohol, and whatever else they need to make big power.
This engine is a masterpiece of insanity. As mentioned above the goal is 3,500hp. The block is billet and it was literally designed around ARP’s top fuel head studs. The block is constructed in a modular manner meaning that pieces like cylinder jugs can be replaced and repaired individually. Virtually everything on the engine is billet until you get to the top. Air delivery here is paramount because fuel delivery will be massive. You have a massive PSI screw blower that leads the literal charge and then there are a PAIR of 102mm Precision turbos that are blasting air into the intake BELOW the supercharger.
There are nitrous lines to help spool the turbos, there are a ton of line for feeding alcohol into the engine, and when you get to the gas evacuation side you have billet log style exhaust manifolds. Why logs? The guys were nervous of high exhaust temps and massive pressures blowing tube style headers out. Those are ultra-performance diesel problems there, kids.
So the big question. What does all this stuff weigh when bolted together? In the video Jeremy Wagler says 1,400-1,500lbs or the equivalent of a couple of small blocks. We cannot wait to see videos of this thing on a dyno or in the company’s truck.
Complete insanity and we 100% approve!
Cost ? Just a guess ? $ 250K so lets buy 10 of them….
