We’ve all been there. You’re having a rough time with your car or truck, or in this case airplane engine powered pulling tractor. The thing is acting bad, not running right, and everything in the world is telling you to just lift and shut it off. Thing is, you’re so wound up, pissed off, or frustrated that you decided to just keep the pedal to the wood and let the chips fall where they may. We don’t know if this was desperation, frustration, or determination that made the driver of this European pulling tractor maintain a full throttle attitude when the world was going to junk around him. Amazingly and against all odds, his gumption paid off and he nearly got a full pull out of the deal.
As you’ll see the tractor bites pretty hard and then climbs the ring gear WAY up into the air. The machine then slams down and effectively busts off the right front wheel and suspension. Undeterred, the driver jams the throttle down again, pulling the front of the tractor back up in the air and he starts to pick up steam again. Just about at that point, you’ll hear a large pop, and the engine starts sounding a little on the sick side. Still with the hammer down, the tractor continues to claw until finally either one or both of the head gaskets gives up and the tractor stops dead in its tracks.
Sure this run probably cost the owner/driver of the tractor a pile of cash, but we bet it felt pretty good to just hammer the throttle open and keep it there until the big beast literally quit. We’d not recommend taking the same path as this guy because, as demonstrated, you are going to tear some junk up. That being said, we’ve stayed into a missing or popping drag car engine too long like everyone else has. This is just a super extreme version of that!
