There’s a rocking party held in Michigan each year called the, “Michigan Bean Festival”. OK, it may not be a rocking party, but there has to be a ton of farting by the time it is all said and done. Like all good bean festivals, this one has competitive mud bogging as one of the events the beaned-up spectators can take in. For one racer in a seriously heavy duty 1948 Chevy bodied truck, the bean festival is not a pleasant memory.
When we first watched this video we were thinking that whoever organized this event needed a lesson in shutdown area planning. After watching it ten times of so, we have a different view. This truck was carrying some hella serious speed through the end of the pit and the throttle was hung WFO as you’ll hear when watching the video. We have read other accounts of this stating that all of the other boggers got stopped before wrecking violently, so the shutdown wasn’t as bad as it seems, apparently.
Thankfully, there were some massive hay bales at the terminus of the course which stopped the runaway truck in a far less violent manner than a concrete wall or barriers would have done. The big block Chevy powering the truck hits some truly stratospheric RPM levels after the rig stands on end. The idiots cheering all need to be punched in the face.
