We have shown you Jeeps skittering over water, we have shown you trucks capsizing and sinking into the water, and we have shown you people floating across the water in makeshift junk over the years here at BangShift but we have never shown you someone pulling and carrying a flipping wheelie across the water like the guy in this V8 powered sand rail does in the video below. Shot at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan, this guy actually pulls a couple of wheelies on the water but it is the last one, caught from several different angles that is the most impressive because the truck is near vertical and because it is on water and it carries so dang far. This isn’t like 100 feet, this is several hundred feet with the paddle tires kicking up massive rooster tails of water!
We realize that the water may not be that deep, but c’amon…this is awesome. We’re not 100% sure what type of engine is powering the sand rail but the opening shot that shows the accessory drive on the thing certainly makes it look like an LS. Tell us if we are wrong by all means but that is our best guess. The sand car/sand rail thing is always impressive to us if for not other reason because we’ve never spent any time in one anywhere near as serious as what shows up in these videos. They weigh nothing and have immense power. This one isn’t even working to pull a wheelie (and with the majority of the weight behind the rear axle we understand why) and then when the driver lays into the power it just digs in and goes like stink.
Next summer we need to get ourselves out to Silver Lake to witness stuff like this first hand, and hopefully from the passenger seat!
