The Roadster Shop has proved over recent years that they can literally build anything and do it as well as the best in the world do it. Last year their insane Camaro known as Rampage was the talk of the whole show and was the Gran Turismo Award winner. This year they went a completely different direction from a road racing Camaro and instead built a kind go off-road pre-runner type Chevy Colorado known as the ColoRAD0. Many people don’t know that lots of the trucks you see at the SEMA show leave and immediately find themselves in the desert being shot for magazine features, etc. We have a feeling that was the case with ColoRADo which won the Chevrolet design award at SEMA 2015. This truck sure looked the business when we saw it but everything does sitting still.
This video proves that the thing does have some serious off road chops in the sand with its long travel suspension and ultra wide body, roaring V8 engine, and huge tires, it was meant to get out there and rip around the desert despite the fact that it is built the typical Roadster Shop level of beauty and perfection. We’re not sure if they have ever built another off road truck but it had to be a foreign concept for the guys from RS to load up their show winning truck and then thrash it in the dirt.
Between the light bar, the massively flared fenders and suspension components that could be mistaken for modern sculpture we’re on board with everything that this truck stands for. It is great they they took it out and did more than just idle it into the dirt as well. No, this is not the Dakar Rally or Baja, but that does not bother us. A V8 with flying sand and working suspension means that this thing is no trailer king, it’s a runner…a pre-runner, baby!
