If you are one of the guys who is still on the fence about turbos and their usefulness on literally every mechanical device that uses an internal combustion engine, maybe the proof of their sweetness will be proven to you in this video. The rock bouncer that you will see here has a twin turbo V8 in it (we’re guessing LS because….why not?) and the power it develops allows the machine to literally claw its way up an awesome mountain trail until it has reached what looks to be the easiest obstacle in the whole place. Unfortunately here’s the part where so much power actually can work against you some times. How?
In an effort to finish the trail quickly and perhaps put on a bit of a show for the assembled fans, this driver went charging great guns up this concrete ramp that marked the end of the line. Rather than rolling up and leaping over the top in an impressive display of guts and suspension travel, the thing got to the top, stood vertical for a second and then tumbled right back down from where it came! If you think that is the end of the story, forget about it.
Like a prize fighter who took a good one to the chin and was able to shake it off, the driver here lines himself back up again and charges (on a different line) and makes it over the top sans drama. This is a testament to how tough these buggies are built and how nutty the drivers are. We have to get out and see one of these events for ourselves!
