If Watching This Fire Truck Do A Burnout With The Siren On Doesn’t Make You Smile, You Are Dead Inside

Sometimes I like to post stuff because it makes me happy and by doing that I am assuming that it’ll make smile as well. Case in point is this bright yellow fire engine doing a burnout with the siren blaring during a diesel drag race at Mason-Dixon Dragway. The event was part of the Antrim Diesel “Diesel Days” celebration where really fast diesel trucks of all shapes and sizes test their mettle on the dyno, get involved with sled pulling, and also slug it out on the drag strip. I believe that this footage was taken during a planned burnout contest because we have seen other trucks smoking the tires way down the strip after starting in the burnout area like the fire engine does.

It isn’t the biggest or smokiest burnout, but is there another situation that brings more childhood fantasies together at once than this? Driving a fire truck, turning on the siren, AND doing a burnout. Seriously, that is like the triple crown of awesome in my 11-year old brain. Like cop cars, fire trucks have that kind of super natural brawn that gets inflated when you are a kid. You see those big trucks with their diesels wailing, flying down the road making all that noise and while they’re probably going by you at 60, it sure seems like they are going 120. This truck sounds like it has a Detroit two stroke in it. We’re not sure because the noise is more muffled than we are used to hearing out of a Detroit, but it is pretty screamy, so that’s my guess. Am I right?

As the title says, press play below and if you can watch this fire truck burnout and not have a smile across you face I’m sorry for you.
