To prove that we’re not going soft on you with stories about salmon and stuff, we direct your attention to this video from the world of mud bog racing. This is awesome video of a pretty legendary mud bog machine known as Showtime and raced by Jene Whitaker. The upper ranks of mud racing, with respect to engine choice have long been dominated by blown, alcohol burning big block Chevy engines. Whitaker went a different road with a nasty nitrous injected small block.
That engine was plunked into a 1960s El Camino body, surrounded by a bunch of steel tube and run within an inch of its life for the 300′ length of mud bogs all over the country. High brow types snicker and sneer at the very idea of mud bogging as some sort of degenerate automotive side show act. Those guys are idiots. Between tuning the suspension to work in muck, building a motor capable of living through some of the harshest and most violent treatment in racing, and occasionally pulling full pit wheelstands like you will see below, these racers are the real deal!
Press play and see Showtime live up to that name!
