Once again, there’s snow at BangShift Mid-West and I’m not playing in it. Adding insult to injury, I’ve had the fun of trying to extract my neighbor’s pickup truck from the slushy, muddy mess that lies underneath the snow and ice. (He’s sunk up to the axles and has been there for a few days now.) When the snow melts down enough that I can back the newly-repaired Angry Grandpa out of the garage, you can bet that I’ll be out playing in the snow. But for now, I have to enjoy the activities of others who enjoy the cold white stuff to the best of their ability.
The owner of this Kenworth W900L had run a long summer of hauling around oil fields and, according to his brother, “decided to take a couple minutes off and have a little fun in life”. That’s a very positive philosophy to have, but we’re gearheads: 600hp Kenworth plus deep snow plus a driver who isn’t afraid to play with the throttle equals some fun. You might not be as impressed as if you were watching a Ken Block video, but let’s be blunt: that Kenworth is a lot of weight to fling around and it doesn’t just get crazy like a little rally rocket would!

Beware doing donuts in snowy lots. A kid at my college wiped out the whole front end, motor of his MGB on a raised manhole cover…they stopped paving in early winter and it was buried in the snow. Tough lesson.
