Sometimes things are not what they appear to be and this truck pretty much sums that up to a T. What you think you are looking at is a military spec Hummer that has been upgraded, updated, and made into a big block powered suburban off-roader. In fact, what you are looking at is a Chevy 3/4 ton truck chassis with a tubular structure built on it and the body is a mixture of actual Humvee body panels and aftermarket stuff like the doors, which have windows you can actually open. The only pieces left from the truck are the 14-bolt rear end and the frame. The engine, which would have been a GM diesel has bee swapped for a 500+hp 496ci big block and we fully approve of that. The motor is backed by a built up Turbo 400 transmission. No, this truck will not be capable of running the Rubicon Trail but there are lots of good parts and pieces put into it and the build looks like it was done well. Long story short, we’d love to drop the kids off at school in this thing and then put some nitrous to it and hustle it at the drag strip every once in a while. Hell, a mud pit would be riotous every now and again.
The suspension is pretty interesting in that the rear is located using a triangulated four link style setup with Currie Enterprises forged Johnny joints allowing the movement. The springs are from a 2500 series Dodge truck and were intended for the front end of those units. The shocks are remote reservoir, long travel Fox pieces with 14″ of travel. Up front there is a Dana 60 with Fox coil over shocks, a four link that uses a panhard bar and adjustable Currie Johnny Joints. There is an Off Road Design steering kit on the truck so you won’t die a horrible flaming death while heading down the road and trying to turn. Steering in these big trucks can be weird so it is cool the guy didn’t try to engineering something and went with good pieces. The axles have 5.13 gears in them turning the big 46″ Mickey Thompson tires.
With the big block, the little Flowmasters and the gearing, we’re betting this thing sounds the business and can do burnouts a plenty. We have barely scratched the surface of this monster. Hit the link and see the eBay ad below so you get the full appreciation for the build and all the parts used in it.

…. which is kind of ironic in light of the fact that the H2 and the H3 Hummers were in fact nothing more than rebodied , over priced Chevy/GMC trucks with a Hummerlike party dress on . My feeling being the only good Hummer is a crushed Hummer in a scrap metal pile . Can’t tell you back in my Off Road days how many Hummers including the H1 I had to help rescue from their owners stupidity as well as the Hummers unsuitability for Colorado Mountain off roading
Bro-truck.
I like it. This thing would be fun to drive across my neighbor’s lawn, all four wheels churning, but, well, that’s another story. Cruise nights, parades. Probably not good as a first and only vehicle, but if you are about ten deep in the garage, this would be cool to have. Would not pay too much for it, though. The only off-roading there is around here is full of a-holes so no great loss there.
