You are a patchworking fool. Its neat following along, like vicarious adult legos.

Had to take one of the furry children for an emergency visit last night......the Vet shows up in an Ohio-Rusty FJ of a similar vintage to yours. I'll try to get pictures when I go back today.

This was the scene at my house the other night. They are starting to multiply in my neighborhood. Red one has stock 6cyl. Green has a sbc.

nice, there's a guy down there that wrote a pretty epic blog about delivering a FJ40 to Hawaii. The blog never finished (though the rumor is this is coming in book form). That green FJ looks like his (and he is in Austin).

This green one came from Arizona. Mark took delivery of it a couple weeks ago after it was trapped at a restoration shop for 2 days past forever.. I had to give the carb a good tweaking before the darn thing would even run for more than a few seconds. Oh and Austin is 500 miles from Amarillo. lol

it's all Texas to me.... and Mr. Cynic, the guy drove a FJ40 from Texas to Montana to Seattle then shipped it to Hawaii - so really, it is right next door in his travel language. Next you'll tell me that you weren't involved in the biker battle in Waco.

the proper way to fix a FJ40 carb issue is to replace the motor with a EFI SBC (or 302 Ford).

Seen daily driven locally. The rust actually makes me like it even more.

Waco is like 425 miles from Amarillo and I bet they have a Twin Peaks in Amarillo. Not that I'd really expect to see James there, but it would be a little more convenient.

I was in Houston... at Hooters, not Twin Peaks, and 185 miles from Waco, so don't even start on me.

Start? I thought it was one continuous raft of poo that started years ago and will end when Jesus comes.

Now that I know where all the boobs are in Texas, progress?

new part, 32 spline output from Novak - I had to decide, either easy emergency brake or 2" more room for a rear driveshaft...

that said, I have an idea now how it's going to go together with an e-brake

looks like I went backwards, huh? I like to post the middle steps, and the middle step was even up the top of the tunnel then build a new, upper panel (this time out of 16 ga since it's permanent)

and there we go, tacked in place

and yeah, I know you all think I'm nuts to do all this work for 2" more of foot space and a bit more room behind the dash, oh well.

Just filling in the Waco details, they weren't at church.

As a older body style Ford truck driver, I can appreciate the effort for an extra 2" of foot space. Just to tie this all back together, the last time I went to Amarillo in a short bed regular cab F150, I let my daughter drive a lot of the way. When I got back I bought the Escape because the passenger side of the truck is miserable for anyone over 5'6"... (well, and mpg with 4.00 gas at the time). Anyway, I get it.

Yep, we think you're nuts. 2" in the footwell has little to do with it.

(Sorry - you put the ball up over the net and all I had to do was spike it.)

so I got a bit of welding done... a ways to go, but since I needed to get the Corvette back in the shop, I put the rig back together to double check fit... it fits (yay)

it will look, hopefully, like Toyota then bought the rights to produce the SBC and installed it in the FJ
