1967 Mustang Currently Leading East African Rally

How cool is this? Ian Duncan, at the wheel of a 1967 Mustang packing a 351 and a four-speed, is currently leading the 2009 East African Safari Classic Rally. From the looks and sounds of it, the rally is no joke, traversing harsh country at high speeds. The ‘Stang is leading cars like Mercedes, Porsches, and Datsuns. This rules!

You can follow Duncan’s exploits on the event homepage and there is another great page of photos here. The rally has been run since 2003 and is comprised of vehicles produced from 1974 and back. The Mustang is a total departure from the normal stuff that competes. Most of the other vehicles have had some type of rally history and are Euro-mobiles that sound like sewing machines when lined up next to the snorting, V8 powered Ford.

The only thing we can say is, go Ian go!
